Specialist interest
These conditions often involve many body systems at once. I combine testing, herbal medicine, diet and lifestyle changes to address the underlying causes.

Memory & focus
Forgetting names, losing your train of thought or feeling as if you’re thinking through fog are common, but they’re not something you just have to accept. Memory problems and brain fog often have causes that can be found and treated.
Sister company
For memory loss and cognitive decline, Jean also works through CogMission, the brain health clinic she co-founded with Charmaine Shepherd in 2017. CogMission uses functional medicine and the principles of the Bredesen Protocol to find and treat the underlying causes of cognitive decline.

Stress & anxiety
Managing stress and anxiety is one of the most important things you can do for your long-term health. Unmanaged stress stops you enjoying life to the full, and is linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, diabetes, asthma, gut problems, headaches, Alzheimer’s disease and hormone imbalance.
HRV training gives you a simple but powerful way to take control of your body’s stress response. It goes beyond relaxation, helping you reach coherence: a harmony between your physical, mental and emotional states. It’s enjoyable, easy to learn and very visual.
Your heart rhythm changes with how you feel. Frustration produces an erratic pattern; calm, positive states produce a smooth, coherent one.
The gap between heartbeats isn’t perfectly even. Your heart speeds up as you breathe in and slows as you breathe out. HRV measures how much your heart rate varies with each breath. It’s unique to you, and controlled by your autonomic nervous system.
Under stress, breathing becomes fast and shallow, so there’s less variation and less capacity to cope. Ongoing stress can leave HRV permanently low. When you’re calm, variation is higher, your heart is more flexible, and your heart tells your brain you can cope.
Because HRV is directly linked to your breathing, you can change it. No special equipment is needed. A few minutes of breathing practice a day can help for several hours afterwards.
